Tsa Lung – Tibetan Yoga

Schedule of English tsa lung classes.

Tsa Lung is a significant Vajrayana practice to realize the nature of the mind. Two ways are distinguished with respect to their different results:

One way is the practice of the preparatory tsa lung exercises or the so called “tsa lung of everyday life”. The main point lies on the health of the body and the mind. In this practice, one works with the channels and chakras, called TSA in Tibetan, and with the complex system of the internals winds, called LUNG. In the tsa lung system, physical as well as mental illnesses are considered as a result from blocked channels, sticked chakras and unbalanced winds on the external, internal as well as on the secret level. The tsa lung exercises affect these imbalances, resulting in a harmonization and purification of TSA, LUNG and the elements.

The other way, the so-called practice of the advanced tsa lung, is the way of the yogis and yoginis. Its goal is the realization of the nature of mind, emptiness and enlightenment. Differently to the preparatory tsa lung, one works intensively with the thigle. This practice involves the Six Yogas of Naropa and the yidam-practices of Chakrasamvara and Vajrayogini.

These two ways of tsa lung are not strictly separated. They share as crucial requirements a to daeexcellent motivation, patience, a steady practice and an authentic teacher.

Yogi Milarepa said:

“Tsa lung is the best exercise to achieve self-healing, physically as well as mentally.”

Tsa Lung booklets

General remarks

The tsa lung teached by Lama Kunsang belongs to the first way of the preparatory tsa lung. To date, it has been written down in three booklets in German and translation into English is in progress. The first two volumes are already available in English, the third one will be available by January 2023.

The booklets are designed as a tool for tsa lung practitioners to support their study and comprehension of the background of these teachings as well as to enable the proper performance of the exercises by means of precise but nevertheless simple instructions.

The first booklet builds the basis to start with the tsa lung exercises. The second and third volumes build on the first volume. The backgrounds and explanations of the first volume are deepend and a selection of tsa lung exercises presented.

Traditionally, the tsa lung exercises are organized in groups, so-called valleys. Each valley represents a coherent unit and should, if possible, be practiced as a whole and in the given order. However, the valleys as whole units can be performed at your own discretion in any kind of order. Depending on need, situation and time, individual exercises can also be carried out several times in sequence and with adjusted intensity.

Tsa Lung belongs to the Tantrayana system. Therefore, these booklets should not be used without direct instructions from Lama Kunsang but rather as a supplementary documentation of his teachings!
